Avenue Farm Machinery Ltd. opened its doors for business in 1947 with the goal to serve the Fraser Valley family farming community, over the years the owners have changed but the dedication to the farming community has stayed the same. As farming techniques have changed so did Avenue’s need to adjust to the changing marketplace, today we still acknowledge our roots with those pioneers of the Fraser Valley’s early farming families. Many of those same families that helped us build a strong dealership network are still visiting us today to fulfill their equipment needs, our traditional products like Massey Ferguson, and Fendt high horsepower tractors are premium products that we support to suit the dairy farming community. We sell and support our products from Chilliwack through Abbotsford, Langley, Surrey, Delta and Richmond, North of the Fraser River we service Mission, Agassiz, Maple Ridge, and Pitt Meadows. In our Okanagan offices we service Vernon, Kelowna, Armstrong, Penticton, Enderby and the surrounding areas.
Today maximizing land usage is critical so our tractors with built in GPS and plug and play monitors makes the job much easier. Our field management products such as Kverneland plows and tillage equipment, Brillion cultipackers, Maschio rototillers and power harrows all are premium tools that produce quality results and reliability. We also sell and service JBS manure spreaders and forage haulers, crops are harvested using the latest technology techniques from Krone of Germany, their self propelled and tow behind mower conditioners produce great results with reliability, Krone’s square and round bailers get the feed into the barns to round out the year.
As farming evolved in the Fraser Valley to include berry crops, such as raspberries, strawberries, cranberries as well as many types of vegetables including various under glass nursery crops we’ve changed to meet the market with the introduction in 1976 of the Japanese built Kubota farm tractor line up which later expanded to include Kubota light construction excavators and skid steers, all of Kubota’s line up of equipment are considered the number one product in the market place within their horsepower sectors. Kubota has built a reputation of quality and reliability that is un-matched by any other product in the marketplace. Kubota products suit many applications and if you include the many attachments that easily fit to a Kubota you have everything you need to keep your farm or property working and looking great. Common Kubota attachments to consider are Landpride mowers, brush cutters, and land leveling blades, 3 point hitch mounted or tow behind Florida chemical sprayers, Mill Creek row mulchers, and top dressers. In the year 1999 Avenue Farm Machinery Ltd. in Abbotsford was purchased by the Japanese corporate giant Marubeni Corporation, Avenue Farm Machinery became Avenue Machinery Corp. and expansion came with the acquistion of Reliance Tractor in Vernon, B.C. and the opening of the newest location in West Kelowna, B.C. Now with 3 locations this gave Avenue the ability to service a large portion of southern British Columbia. Our Okanagan offices cater to the dairy farms, fruit orchard farmers and the wine industry.
In 2012 Avenue was purchased from Marubeni Corporation by Avenue’s management team along with a group of local businessmen bringing Avenue back into the hands of individuals that live in your local communities. This has given Avenue the ability to make changes in the best interest of our local customers due to having first hand knowledge of our community since we live and work along side our customers.
The new ownership / management team made up of Andy Mitchell, Al Short, Dave Brandsma, and Chris Britten are proud of Avenue’s past heritage and we look forward to continue to serve our local farmers throughout British Columbia who helped build Avenue through our first 67 years.
